LSD? it's a must!!!
Only thing i really miss from infiniti g35 is LSD. It sucks $40k has really nice lsd while
$75k car doesn't
It's very very noticable when I go over rough/unpaved road from the start. My 545 jerks like crazy if I give a bit of gas
while my g just rocks away.
And about shorter final end/drive, watch out for couple things. Most of time, shorter ratios will yeild in better acceleration but not always.
I'm no engineer but an avid enthusiast but I what understand is shorter ratios benefits high hp no tq engines aka bmw Ms or honda s2000, and such more than
high tq high hp cars. The reason is, lack of tq can be covered up by gearing while you want a nice broad tq band and stay in lower gear as much as possible for the maximum acceleration. 545/550 has a really good torque from the low and all the way to redline.I believe my 3rd gear(smg) tops around 112mph. One of main reason 545/550 is a highway monster because it just pulls beyond the triple digits while most cars tops their 3rd around 95mph and force to shift to 4th and that dramatically decrease the acceleration. Plus shorter gearing means extra shifts so you won't likely to see a lot of improvment over 1/4mile as you need an extra shift. I believe this is the main reason that m5 with shorter rear end didn't yield the performance gains over stock.
But like always, I could be very wrong

Really the best mod for V8 no question about it. I got mine really cheap, for around 1000$, and the install cost was around 200$. I did not change the gearing.
I posted a DIY of install some time ago, really nothing hard. URL: Quaife install
