I've had my 2006 520d remapped by superchips 3 months ago. The gain in power is unbelievable. I had posted a test I had done where my car accelarated 12 seconds quicker from 80km/h to 180 km/h. Before the remap the time was around 29 seconds and after it improved to 17 sec. The second gear pull is amazing! I would definitely recommend that you get your car remapped. Before the remap I preferred driving my SLK. Now I love driving the 520d waiting for some impatient driver to flash his lights on the highway so I can leave him in my dust.
WTG KaganB.
I should receive my brand new E61 LCI 520d on Tuesday and it's going straight in for a remap so your news is good news for me.
I'll report the results back to the board.

Hi Stormbird,
Congrats on your new E61. Have you remapped your car? I waited till 7000 km before remapping mine. I wanted to break my car in properly. After the remap the car is much more responsive. However, the tires lose grip in first and second gear. When you punch it it goes into a slip and the DSC kicks in cutting off power for a second then right after the shift into 2nd the same thing happens again. I need better tires I guess plus the asphalt here in Istanbul is a little slippery. Have fun with your new car and drive friendly.

Hello KaganB
Picked up my new E61 on Tuesday and I'm trying to familiarise myself with everyhting - so far I'm over the moon with the car.
Only problem to date is that the much publicised Aux/USB connection for Ipod refuses to work unless it is just with a humble little IShuffle.
The remapping will probably be done in 15 days time but first I want ny dealer to reprogramme the voice activation/recognition module to English anf that tales a couple of hours apparently.
Once that's done, I know they won't need to look at the ECU any time soon the car will be off to the Dyno bench and reprogramming will begin.
Cheers and have a great week-end...
