Look good, nice job, but yer it definately needs clear coat and then buffing up to make it look like glass once again. I agree you should do a light tint on the white part, you could mask off and spray just the white part or you could get some 2000-2500grit wetsanding paper and lightly take a little spray off the red and then hit it with one more coat of VHT, wait 24hours and clear-coat and then buff after another 24hours and they will look great

#1...The tails are dark enough!

#2...+1 on the glossy clear coat! (It would then look like my Hella tails!).

#3...I would put a light coating of the paint on the turn signal portion of the tails!

#4...Then all you do is enjoy!!

i looked online and found good reviews from dupli color clear coat. Im going to get some tomorrow along with some resistors from radio shack!! good lookin out. thanks for the feed back guys!
Yes, Duplicolor. I did some searching myself and I can't seem to get any confirmation on UV protection of the product.

This is discouraging as without it, you run the risk of the paint yellowing at the very least and even peeling depending on the situation. Now, on a tail light with basically a vertical exposure to the elements, it's your call as to how important this all is (it's not the same as spraying clear out of a can onto a horizontal surface with constant exposure to the sun). I did come across this:http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_2_part_2k_aerosol.cfm which would seem to fit the bill, but I have no experience with it.

Really, the best thing to apply is the clear that bodyshops use in their refinishing processes (out of a spray gun, of course) and even these products are not all created equal.

I'm sorry the solution isn't as "clear" as you may have wanted it to be. Whatever you do, post some more pics!
