I had the K&N drop in, before I did this mod. Now maybe I'm delusional, but I swear the car pulls better than before. It's like you can almost feel that there's less restriction to the throttle body, thus giving the car better "pull".

You can't feel anything. It's just you thinking the car has better "pull" because it sounds faster, your wallet is lighter and the manufacturer's claims of increased HP. You may have gained 3-5 HP at the high end of the rev range. 99.9 of humans cannot "feel" a HP increase that small on a car that already has 200+ HP.
