Okay, I just realized that the same instructions were posted in this related ACM DIY thread:
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry587554
I guess it's better to cover all the bases and make sure that everyone knows the instructions are out there...

Rudy, we're not after the ACM instruction but after the USB interface installation instructions. Infact the ACM one that we all use here was for the 1st version of the ACM but I've used the same one for the 2nd version and its still the same.

BMW are becoming worse than the corner Audio shop with their modifications. First we drilled a hole to install the AUX socket - now we drill another hole to connect the AUX socket to a new AUX plug. I can't understand why? The ACM already is connected to the AUX behind the CCC - why couldn't the USB just be designed to use that AUX connection already made.
Nick - I'm sure you'll do a better job with the install and if nothing else take the AUX from behind the capacitor/resistors.
I also believe you can place the USB socket in the arm-rest very easily instead of on the ceiling of the Glovebox.
But most important question? Does it work with the older ACMs? These instructions do not say that it must be used with any particular ACM so is there hope for us early installers. It talks about a branch A20 on the ACM which doesn't exist on the older ACMs - but from the circuit diagram it looks like all its doing is supplying power so that should be doable.
But there is something about connecting A7, A8, A9 to the A15 of the ACM but the ACM already has plugs in those places. Ok fair enough most people are not using the OEM DVD player and TV on the ACM but what if we were. How would the comms work?
?
I can see that its using one of the 4 camera inputs for the USB Video? - Interesting because this has been one of my unanswered questions, how do we set-up the four cameras when my set-up menu only have Front and Rear but the ACM clearly has 4 inputs for cameras.
We are all waiting Nick to see how you get on with this install.

I have to partially agree with your comment above about "plug" and "un-plug" the USB audio in the Aux socket when ACM is already directly connected to the Aux-input ...I too can't understand why. I have already custom made 2x Aux-in and 2x USB sockets routed in both glove box and back side of the center armrest.
As for the rest, we will find out soon ..I hope so

There are many like myself who are watching this thread very closely so stop playing around
It makes us feel we have a break through.
Nick, I just thought of something - the USB interface seems to be nothing more than a Media Player and uses a normal Video and Audio Output to connect into the ACM. So maybe we should connect this to the DVD Video input instead of the Camera and hopefully it may work if the USB interface is going to paint the Directory Structure as a screen allowing you to use the iDrive to select what you want.

So, I gave it a fast try in the middle of the night but had no luck.
What I did is I plugged-in A3 to pin 15 and A4 to pin 6 in socket casing D and plugged it on to the ACM branch A16. Also I removed the pins 11 and 10 off the ACM branch A15 and replaced them with A27 and A8, plus added the A9 to pin 22.
I didn't plugged any other pins/sockets, as all the others are audio relative connections..
No USB in menu, no USB power on memory stick.. but I'll give it a more detailed try tomorrow
