Just got the Bavarian Autosport catalog and noticed that they sell a "unlock" valve to increase the engagement of the clutch. Is this a worth wild upgrade? Anyone tried it yet and have any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is this the same thing as the replacement of the clutch delay valve?

What happens if transmission failed on the road and car was towed to dealer for checking out the transmission and found this valve?

Search on CDV you will find quite a bit.

I haven't done this mod since I have gotten used to the delay over time and also will start teaching my 14 year old son to drive soon. However, I know the general feeling is that getting one from Zeckhausen Racing is a better choice than Bav Auto. Zeckhausen is a modified factory valve vs. the generic one from Bav.

Helps address my530i's concern a little also since it looks stock on the outside.

Definitely worth it. Go with the Zeckhausen version. I first tried the Bav Auto and (i) externally it looks different than the stock valve and (ii) it didn't seem to cure the delay. I subsequently swapped the Bav Auto version for Zeckhausen's and it worked much better. Zeckhausen starts with a stock valve and hollows it out. So, upon external inspection it is impossible to see that it has been replaced.

Funny, I was at the dealer in the fall and they were putting the third clutch in a 550 under warrantly . They finally figured out that the stock clutch delay valve was malfunctining, and not allowing the clutch to fully engage.

Bottom line - relatively easy mod (suggest doing it on a lift although I did mine on ramps) and noticeable.

P.S. - drop a Sprint Booster in and it'll become a different car.

Thanks for the advice. I think it's time to order the Zeckhausen's.
