Yeah, you're right. It does take the luxury out of the car and it does sound out of the norm on a 5er. dt425 and I went on a cruise last night and he was intimately familiar with the sound before the headers were installed, and he liked it without the headers better. He said that the magnaflow dual exhaust with OEM exhaust manifolds (w/cats) was low and deep sounding, and the headers (w/de-cat) sounded high pitched and racey.

Yeah, personally I think headers are too much for our cars. I remember when I was 18 I did everything I could to save up the $175.00 it took to get a set of hedman headers for my chevy small block (including not paying my power bill which led to my power being shut off lol). I never ended up even installing them because some welding needed to happen to make them fit and I couldn't afford the welding labor. In total, had I had the cash, the entire job would have been under $250.00. Granted the small block chevy is a very popular engine, but still..

I bolted on $200 ebay headers on my old e46 m3, and they were amazing. While $6k does seem like a lot, I get it. And when people say why not just get an M5, all you have to say is 'rod bearings'. Enjoy.
