Yes, probably twice what it should cost, but it can always be sold for half price at some point. Good HP and torque gains. Wonder how loud it is. This version is not currently shown to be available for the 550i.
Edit: To make matters worse you can't self install--not that I am willing to do such things any more.
"Part #:
Price:
D760-0005
$999.00
Labor Units: 30.0
Emission Status: Emission Status Pending
Peak Horsepower: 342 @ 6500 rpm*
Peak Horsepower Gain: 17 @ 6500 rpm
Peak Torque: 339 @ 4000 rpm*
Peak Torque Gain: 14 lb/ft @ 6500 rpm
Point Value: 2
Dinan's high flow intake system for the 545 dramatically increases intake air-flow volume and velocity, as well as ensuring the lowest possible intake air temperatures for maximum power gains, as well as improved throttle response.
The system takes full advantage of the ram-air effect by adding a second air inlet in conjunction with the stock inlet configuration, force feeding cool, oxygen rich air to the modified air box. The system includes a replacement air box lid, designed to increase overall volume and accommodate a special high flow filter element. The lid is molded from a composite material that has been chosen specifically for its ability to resist power robbing under-hood heat and also provides for a completely sealed air box, maximizing pressurization for optimum performance. Air from the secondary inlet passes through custom molded ducting, including a visible section manufactured from carbon fiber, also designed to reject underhood heat and provide maximum flow.
The high flow intake system alone produces a substantial 17 horsepower gain, taking the car to 342 horsepower at 6500 rpm. The intake note takes on a subtly more aggressive tone at wide open throttle that will be music to the driving enthusiasts' ears.
A photo of the system will be available shortly."

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
Sounds interesting - thanks for the info.
Do you typically hear the high flow intakes under normal or heavy acceleration as compared to WOT? I know the car is so well insulated, I am wondering if I can slip this past my wife.
Also, what is a labor unit - minutes?

you'd get the same hp form just increasing the red line on a stock 545. 342 / 6500 times 6100 gives 321 hp at 6100. you did get a slight increase in torque but its at 4000. max torque is better at lower rpm with a steady increase to max rpm.

If someone gets this intake, they should have the car dyno'd before and after controlling for everything except the Dinan airbox.
It is really hard to imagine a 17 hp gain from an airbox alone.
Dinan claimed similar hp gains for the E46 M3 with their CAI, but the hp gains could only be achieved with Dinan headers, and software upgrade.

My Ride: 530iA Silver Grey , black interior. Premium Package, Navigation System, Head-up Display, Radio Satellite, Adaptive Xenon Headlights. AC Schnitzer Front Lip, H&R springs, Rear red reflector, All season Floor mat,
Wow 17hp with just the Hi-flow intake alone.. if that's really true many 545i owners will be ordering that intake to keep up with the new 550i pretty soon..
Yeah i would like to know about 530i too.. i hope it's much cheaper than 545i's..

My Ride: E60 "Stripper"
Now C6 "Stripper"
Hip, hip HOORAY!
Yes, it is about time......................
But do you have to install it in conjunction with the high flow throttle body and free flow exhaust for these GAINS?
