There has been a recent group buy of these intakes for the 545i, but not a lot of commentary on any changes noted after installation. Was there a detectable performance gain? How about the all-important sound quality? Installation comments?

I'm considering ordering one, but I'd like to get some feedback from those of you who have purchased / installed it.

Thanks for all comments!

I'm sure the Dinan version is excellent, but I'm curious what they're saying about the competition -- how about a bit of detail?

I ordered mine from R1racer and it arrived in about 3 days. Was very easy to install with enclosed instructions (20 mins). The first thing I noticed upon turning the key was when you step on the gas it has a more pronounced growl along with the engine gulping up all the air it can get. When you are in the car and step on it there is a little more pull and purr.... All in all a nice CHEAP upgrade. I think if you couple this with ecu remap, quad exhaust and sprint booster you will be very happy!

in short, i was told the afe filter is exposed, not sealed/insulated, drawing in hot underhood air, not cold ducted air from the kidney grills
