Interesting project to be
There're 3 more months to wait for my 535d arrival that allows me to plan more.
a local chip tuner, chiptronic, claims 342 ps/67 kgm on 535d and no error msg detect while dealer checking the ecu.
Sounds a skillful & experienced one free me away from warranty void.
custom high efficient intercooler , oil cooler , dual fuel pump .., not consider performance exhaust mod yet cuz I'm naive in diesel car tuning.
Handling is another hot appeal here, short of road for straight sprint most of time , I'm thinking light weight rotors/rims , spacers mods as well.
Of course the audio system, rear seats DVD system please the kids a lot should be the day one mod once I receive my car.

Yes, you're not alone and please keep us update

Glad Im not on my own with this one but its difficult to know who to ask for help.

Im the first to admit I know nothing about deisel tuning but looking through the lower bumper valance of my car, the front mounted intercooler is tiny! ....Got to be some improvement there for a start!

Very intresting thred ! I'm also into it although i don't know much about aftermarket intercoolers or turbos for a 535d. I think it will be very hard to find anything like this. For starters just a remap...

PS: Aeroresh i belive you! I with my stock 535d matched a 645i steptronic to 160km/h. Ture that at 200-210km/h he was almost 2 cars ahead but none the less my car is standard with no remap. Owner of the 645i confirmed. There were 2 runs with similar results.

Keep us posted of what you find, especially with the intercooler.

Yes, lol, of course : remapped 535d is faster than 650i . Sure!
Until the day you catch a fast 35d.....

My 790nm and 335 hp?s are enough for a lot of cars....

Would not mind to catch your remaped 545 on the road....

Come and get me!!

Leave him be man, Alex is just a lil difficult when it comes to the 535d performance and especially mindblowing sensitive when it comes to comparing 535d to 545i/550i/645i/650i. Anyway let's leave the comparisons of petrol vs diesel outside this thread since this wasn't the subject to start with.

I know that a 645i can do, but now i want to know how much can a 535d take. 400bhp is not impossible to achive.A sporty remap can do 350bhp (and that's 80 bhp increase already) so 50 to go isn't that hard to do. I bet a bigger intercooler and biger injectors with the proper remap can do the trick or close enough. Swaping for a bigger turbo is smth, but what happens to the small one and the correlation between them?! Cuz as i see it there can be some problems in the midrange where the big turbo takes over completly.

Well, my brother used to have a 645i and i did not think of it as a great piece of machinery as in a sporty one!

They are very similar to a M3 E46...

It is possible to have 400hp in a 535d, the biggest problem is not the engine but, the gearbox!

Usually the small turbo is the one that fails, not the big one.

I know a 320d that as the two turbos from a 535d.

If you can do that thing to a 320d, well i guess it is possible to change the turbos on a 535d too!

I don?t like diesels that much...but nowadays they really are great cars! And that is a fact!

They are even winning at Le Mans!!!!

I think the gearbox can take 400bhp with maximum 700NM and still be in the reliability zone. After all automatics among all usually take the best punch and can take the most.

Yes but the difficulty is not to a "truck nm?s value"

This car gains both nm?s and hp?s very easy!

See mine for example, i have a lot of nm?s (changing the remap soon) because e asked for something stronger in the mid range! and voil? truck nm?s...

I know that it is a question of remaps because if you like your power to be ond the low and mid rev section you will have a lot of nm?s, but if you put the power in the upper revs you will get more hp?s and less nm?s...

But as in one case the gearbox suffers, on the other it will be more the engine to suffer!

Press this link and you will see a 407 hp 535d with more then 800nm?s...

Not that i believe much on this example but...

Hi,

the question is always: Is the Tuner a "real" tuner, or just a reseller. As far as I know ACS or Hamann and G-Power are simply "resellers" who use a delivered hardware with maybe some small differences (always a box!). You should watch out for someone who really does the tuning and can validate it (via a standardized measurement).
On the other hand: You should be aware that your car is already tuned. There maybe the feeling "there is more", but why are the most tuners stopping on your actual level? At the end: You drive a diesel... and a fast one. If you want more performance, get a M5 or B5...
