What's that? A map to the nearest M5 engine?

Vmax = (2P / Cd*A*r) ^ (1/3)
Incidentally, what is the source of your Vmax formula?

sure, but got better method for jucin' up your ride:

go to your Emmy and kiss twice the roundel and then sit in the car turn engine on, Idrive 3 times right then left then spin it for 10 mins.... and put in 1st gear and put both legs on GAS and so there you have a car with 1100hp and 10000Nms, come on guys, good morning BS!

Newtonian mechanics. Assuming ideal gearing (i.e. max engine power delivered at same engine rpm necessary for max speed), and ignoring rolling resistance and air viscosity/turbulence, the two forces acting on the car are the engine's torque (divided by the tyre's radius and gearing) and the air resistance. If the engine force is greater than air resistance, there is a force acting on the car and the car will continue to accelerate until it reaches the point where both forces are equal - at maximum speed!

Going a little technical:

Engine force at the wheels: E = T(ω)/r (r = tyre radius, T(ω)= wheel torque at rotational frequency ω)
Air resistance force: Ar = 1/2 Cd * A * ρ * v^2 (ρ = air density; other symbols as in my previous post)
Power: P(ω) = 2πω * T(ω) (i.e. rotational speed * torque)
Speed: v = 2πr * ω (i.e. wheel circumference * wheel rotational frequency)

Assuming E = Ar, (and therefore v = Vmax)

T(ω)/r = 1/2 Cd * A * ρ * v^2

multiplying both sides by v = 2πrω:

2πωT(ω) = 1/2 Cd * A * ρ * v^3

but 2πωT(ω) = P, so:

P = 1/2 Cd * A * ρ * v^3

solving for v:

v = (2P / Cd * A * ρ)^(1/3)

Oh - BTW, just found the same formula on Wikipedia, though there is no derivation there

On the same wiki there is a formula for terminal velocity. Our proverbial 535d left to fall vertically from an airplane will reach nearly 650 km/h... without any fuel consumption!!!

Thanks much for the reference and the derivation.
