Just to give a few impressions to my fellow 5ers. I am at 28k miles and had jb4 tune for 2k miles, carbon buildup was significant. Definetly agree this should be done at around 30k miles. Love to drive my car all over again, Throttle response is back, less lag/hesitation at takeoff and butt dyno says picked up a few ponies. Only had it done about 3 days ago, but i think an improvement in mpgs also. Had a realy good deal on this (walnut blasted), only $320 from a group buy, so i am very happy, considering knowing what other people payed!

Is the carbon buildup common with jb4s? I was thinking about getting one installed myself but if thats the case would a copp be better??

carbon buildup on intake valves normal on all DI engines, moreso on turbocharged engines, tune or not.

There was a group buy on the E90 forums.
There is one going on in the Chicago area on 1-series forums.

The buildup in DI engines can be cleaned much easily with fuel injectors etc. On Turbos, blasting is the only way.

This is the real deal guys. The dealer charges in excess of $800. Save yourself some $$ and regain/gain significant performance. I've done my due diligence on this. I've got 10K on my car with a Cobb AP aggressive tune. My car runs well, but I know it can run much better, its got 60K on it total. I'm doing mine soon.

Im running a cobb ap too with the aggressive map and am thinking about doing walnut blasting. However a few people have recommeded to me to do a bg44k cleaning instead. Debating now about what option to go with.

@ bcromwell, google akmotorwerks intake valva walnut blast, a link on e90 post should come up with numerous pics before and after, 5 pages if it on the groupbuy post.....@ booyaza, the bg44k air induction cleaning wont do much as this gunk is pretty stuck onto our valves, best way is to blast.
