open/cone intakes end up sucking in hot air, causing your engine to work harder and actually lose power/decrease performance...there a re a few dyno's and threads regarding this topic...even with the "heat shield" you are still going to get heat soak...

+1 for an rpi scoop and air filter (for your stock box)

Do a search on it. I just read a thread yesterday all about how it sucks, and should be called a hot air intake. The RPi scoop seems to be the way to go, and it's a lot cheaper too

NO IT DOES NOT WORK! Like Gene said any open air cone intakes will result in a loss of power due to heat soak from the engine. That is why Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, MBZ, and other high performance automakers use a box configuration. There have been many dynos done to prove the AFE and similar intake do not work.

Race Precision makes a ram air scoop and drop in filter for the stock box.
