Hi Guys,

I just picked up a used 2004 530i for $26000 with 75K on the clock. It has the sport package and is very clean. I didn't see a phone in it but the steering wheel has the phone and command buttons. Am I being ripped off here? No Navigation as well. What do you think?
Car looks very clean and still smells new. Must have been owned by a non-smoking lady before.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Baiko

I got my 2004 530i for $27,000 with 59k miles on it. My desl was alright. the car was local so I was more inclined to get it. Also it was CPO'd.

I got this back in march, body was perfect, no dings or scratches.. I've put on a lot since. and it was a Non-sports package. It did come with sports package rims. No navi either. I've got the premium package and cold weather package.

You can probably talk it down lower. Up to you. You might be able to find one with navi and lower miles, maybe for like 29-30k. Good luck!

Baiko - is this CPO through a dealer? I'd feel more comfortable knowing I had the warranty to 100K miles...

Well on East Coast, your price sounds about right. $1K for each 10K miles. So, Brand new - 25% depreciation - $7.5K. That car would cost you around $44K brand new - $11K (25%) - $7.5K (mileage) = $25.5K. So you are abour right. If your car is more than 5 years old, the depreciation is 40%. For example my my X5 is an 2002, brand new it was $46K, then 40%=$18.5, it has 80K miles so $8K then 46$k-$18.5K-$8K=$19.5K which is about right. My 530i is an 04 so 25% rule apply, $44K brand new-$11K-$3K (30K miles)=$30K which is around right. Thats is EXCELENT condition.

Price is fine but I would encourage you to look for a sport packaged car-plenty of them out there so no need to rush into this one. You will enjoy the car much more, will look tons better and personally I think the sports package is the single best option on any bmw and a necessity IMO. Even if you go aftermarket springs, struts, shocks etc etc-you will not have the active sway bar technology which I think is just amazing. Gives you a supremely comfortable ride on straights and when you turn or make any movmenets with the car it tightens up and gives you an ultra stiff sway bar setup-priceless option IMO especially if you enjoy any spirited driving in the twisties
