19" alloys- harsh ride?

My Ride: BMW 525d SE
Hi all
Just put 19" alloys on my e60 tread with
245/35/19
275/30/19
I have just upgraded from 18" alloys so perhaps I am still adjusting to the ride, but I have noticed a slight deterioration in the ride comfort.
Are people on 19 rims happy with comfort and ride?
When I come to changing the tyres will 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 fit without rubbing the arches. This will increase tyre wall height and improve comfort. I have an unmodified 525d SE. I also know it will increase the rolling radius and the speedo reading but I use Sat Nav to determine my speed so not an issue.
I know the 7 series 245/45/19 and 275/40/19 tyres definately will not fit.

I never checked my speedo vs. gps on my 18s, but on the 20s, which are bigger than the 18s in total diameter, I am only about a half mph off. And that shows the speedo actually beng faster which is the opposite of what shoud have happened.
As for ride quality, as stated above, you must not have had run flats to begin with, as my ride is at least the same, if not better going from the 18" RFTs to the 20" Non RFTs. Also, the higher performance tire you get, the more ride quality will suffer, rft or not. All seasons will almost always ride smoother than summer tires.

I actually experienced an improvement in ride quality...but perhaps that's from me going from RFT's to non-RFT's rather than going from 18" to 19" wheels

...Me too- I went WAY up in ride quality and I think it's RFT to non RFT. Also- my 166s are wrapped in 245/40/19 and 285/35/19 so the added sidewall might soften it a bit. But compared to my stock sport package 124s with 18 inch Bridgestones - it a HUGE ride advantage. And sloppy roads in corners are handled so much better than the RFTs which would cause bouncing and drift.

are you running 245/40/19 and 285/35/19 without spacers. That would improve tyre wall height by quite a bit and therefor improve comfort over the standard
245/35/19 and 275/30/19

...the tyres make all the difference. my previous Michalin PS2s were softer than my current Dunlop Sportmaxx (both non-RFT), but the Dunlops provide more rim protection by having a slightly thicker and harder wall.
