Since I just came from a day that was like a track day, I can tell you this. My 20's will NEVER go back to the event I just did this past weekend. I will only use my 19's for high performance driving from now on. That said, 20's are great for pimpin', but 19's are great for performance.

I've been contemplating new wheels lately.

I currently have the stock powder coated 18" 124's which I really like, but I also like the look of 19"s and 20"s. Is there any performance downsides and/or upsides to moving to a 19" or 20" wheel?

Am I giving anything up for the look?

Will moving to a lighter 19" and or 20" wheel increase performance?

Should I just keep my 18"s and dump the RFT's?

One thing I do not want to do is give up any bit of performance for the look of my car. I drive my car hard and I've always been under the impression that I would have to be more careful with 20"s (don't know why I feel that way, I just do)

Thoughts?
Voice of dissention here. Assuming the same wheel model (BBS LM's for example ). The larger the wheel, the heavier the wheel, the more unsprung weight, the more rotational mass, the slower the acceleration and the harder the ride. Look at the tire sidewall height on a car with 20" wheels. However you may get better handling and slightly sharper turn in with bigger wheels and less sidewall. Personally I never reach the handling limits of my car... I'm just not that good a driver...

20s" do look better on the 5er but 19s will suit your performance needs.

Why not go w/ a light weight 20" Monobloc wheel from HRE or IForged. The lightest tire setup would be the Toyo T1-Rs. Think about it

I'm beginning to think 19 is the max I'd go...That being said, how much of a difference between 19's and my current 18's (if I got rid of the runflats). I think I'll look for the right opportunity of a used set of 19s and tires to come up here on the boards and buy em as a test..

If anybody has any 19" blacked out anythings (well, hot looking fairly lightweight good wheels anythings that is)with tires they want to sell at a good price, let me know....

I'm still considering just breaking down and getting the DINAN's but they are so crazy expensive. Unless of course someone has a set they wanna sell me? Roleez how about yours?
