172 DIY Refurb
#1
I have completed refurbing 2 of my 172's over the weekend. Result came out pretty good considering I painted these in my dusty garage. The old paint was flaking badly (cheap refurb by dealer) and I had scraped a few curbs as well
I'll try and take more pics of the process when I do the other 2 wheels, in the meantime, here is a little sneak peak.
The paint colour is Steel.

I rubbed down and painted the front wheel nuts (third pic) and they came out pretty good. Will do the rest when I have time.
I will also be changing the centre caps for black versions.
Hubs and calipers could also do with painting, but that's a project for another day.

My Ride: 2006 520d - 19" 172s- Remapped - LCI taillights V6 cables - LCI xenon headlights - Denison 500 with BTA1500 - led interior lights - OEM led number plate lights
Planned mods:

Very nice - how easy/hard was doing the refurb? Any chance of a DIY?
I need to get my 172s done but don't want to spend £60 a wheel

I'll try to take pics when I do the other side and post up a DIY.
In terms of difficulty, if you have painted anything before its not difficult. However it is VERY time consuming because of the sanding.
I'm going to test the next wheel with paint stripper to speed up the process, if it works it will half the time required to complete a wheel... watch this space.
