(1) Fasten seat belt
(2) Insert key and turn to position 2.
(3) Slap SMG into N from D (I always turn off the car in D)
(4) Step on brake
(4) Crank
(6) Drive
I normally leave iDrive alone unless I want to play with NAV.
I use the steering wheel buttons for a lot of iDrive functions, especially entertainment.

1- open garage
2- open door, get in car
3 - close door
4 - turn key
5 - put foot on brake (yeah, i like the way the foot brake initiates the starter)
6 -put in R and back out while cranking up the music
7 - close garage
8 - brake, put in D and take off
9-aim for any stray cats (they're too fast, cant get em)
10 - before i turn second corner, put seat belt on, accepted lawyerese and hold down entertainment to get to last i-drive spot,
Yeah, the dinging drives me crazy, but not enough to change my routine.
I always leave my cell phone in the car and its bluetooth anyway.
