Thumbs down

hello e60 members,

I had one of my xenon lights stoped working last week!
I toke it to the dealer asked them to see what was the proplem?
They then called my saying that the bulb was burned and it needs to be changed (350$).. i had no problem with that but i asked them to be sure that the color of the new one will mach with the old one.

I was suprised after i recived the car that they didnt mach!!!

I called the dealer they told me that it needs 100 hours to get to the orginal color!!!

has any one of you expereanced such thing? is the dealer right that the xenon needs 100 working hours to get to normal?

I believe they have to replace both so that they actually match. I don't think they will match after 100 hours and besides, do you want to spend 100 hours driving with your headlights looking funny?

No thats not true. they will not replace both. I had that happen on my MINI and I only got 1 side replaced and yes they were different in color when I got the car back and I too went back and complained but was given THIS...

Well after couple months of driving... I dont drive much at night... but they started to match a little more... and then I sold the car... so I dont know if it ever matched 100% but they got better than when it was first installed.

What I meant is that if you want those to match, at least from start, you will need to replace both. The dealership will replace both if you are willing to pay for it. As you can see from his location, seems like they don't have a warranty as good as the one we get here. You could probably get away with having your dealer replace both here for goodwill.

I would also change them both at the same time!

Not only for the color but the bulps (any) trend to have a similar lifeline.

Saves one stop at the garage.

They will NEVER be the same if you change just one.

During it's lifespan the color changes a bit.

You'll never get both replaced when it's a warranty or accident repair.
