I don't know if I dare say this in this forum....but ok, wth...I don't want my car to take up my life. There, I said it! I'm a blasphemizer! Don't get me wrong, I love black but currently can't afford the number of servants required to up keep its look. That said, I *love* my alpine white + black leather! Looks great w/o the OCD maintenance routine!
You are most welcome to pen your thoughts. Its always apreciated.

That said, I always fine two general types of car enthusiasts. One thats anal about car cleaning and one that isn't (or not so much). For the latter, would it really bother them if the black car isn't washed so often? I used to own an alpine white E34 M5. I washed it more than I have this black one. That car was spotless but if ever it got in the rain or dirty, it would be a 1 hour hand wash. For me colour never made a difference to time spent cleaning it. What mattered was how the car gleamed every time I drove out of the driveway. And based on that, the Individual black paintwork on the E60 really does look nice.

cheers

My E39 and my 2007 E60 were both Jet Black. My M5 is Silverstone and I love that I don't have to wash it as often. However, I just bought a 2009 X5 and went back to Jet Black. I'm so glad I did. It looks so bad ass, especially with everything that I've done to it so far. The car is being completely murdered out and looks great.

Although Jet Black is the hardest to keep clean, it will always look the best, when it is clean. Nothing beats it. Period!
Hey C,

I am considering a E70 X5 SD Sport in black....do you have any pics of yours you could share?

Had a black car once; never again. Way too hard to maintain and starts to look old fast. You get uptight about car washes and virtually everything that touches your paint. They're also a lot hotter inside due to heat absorbtion.

Last BMW was Orient Blue. While not as dark and all black, it was much the same hassle. Now I have my 4th white on black car -- very easy to maintain and looks very sharp.

So my 5 will need to be replaced this year and starting the thought process of my new one. Those of you that have black, would you do it again? I have the ability to have my car washed unlimited times a week, but still concerned about how bad black shows dings and scratches. We just added a white 09 X5 and it has the saddle nevada interior, which looks fantastic. I really want this interior on my new 5 so that leaves black or white. If you do have black which black is it?

All the best.
