Majority here I dont think have HUD
I have it on my Buick, and I like it. Sometime, however, I find myself looking down at the speedometer. If you fall in love with a car (price, accessories, etc), go for it even if it does not have the HUD.

Just like any other option. You have lived without it for years. A few more years won't make much of a difference.

Now, if you are concerned about the extra energy expended to look down at the speedometer, then you are talking about 1/1000th of a calorie. Just think--everytime you look down, you are burning up calories (or 1/1000th of one).

Yet another thing to debate (besides the 550i vs M5!!).
This is the more important consideration. While the 550i is a mighty fine car ... go get a used M5 instead. You won't regret it.

It came on my CPO'ed wagon. It is now turned on 24/7.

I dont know if it helps you keep your eyes on the road but it is in the "cool - gee wiz - fun factor" to have. My next car will also come with it.

I would interested in the retro fit though....that has got to be a huge chunk of money - new dashboard, updated system, switch, windshield

Try it out, you might like it or hate it

Well, if you want a HUD badly.... consider to buy an aftermarket one.... like this ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Acces...#ht_4584wt_1217

The HUD on non M cars is totally useless if you ask me. I have one but I've not used it more than twice as it only shows the speed and directions if you use the nav. Now the M.. that's another story

HUD with nav is fantastic. Love it. Would definitely buy it on my next car. Wish it displayed the gear you are in and had an RPM indicator.

I bought an 04 E60 with Navi & HUD. Once I found out the E60 had a HUD as an option I waited until I found one with this option along with the Navi and the others. I have the HUD in my Z06 and enjoy getting the data in the HUD. Some say it a worthless option and I say to each's own. Don't settle for less in todays market. Get the options you enjoy and the hell what others say!

Are you buying the car because it has a gizmo, or because its a great car? Come on!

All the gizmos helps the al ready great car to get even greater. I would never buy my 535 if it hadnt had all the extra options.
