Also, please tell me you change your oil more often than every 20K miles.

Actually, a modern Porsche has a relatively low maintenance cost attached to it. Until the 2008 model year, Porsche required oil changes only every 20,000 miles or two years for all 997s. They changed it to 10,000 or yearly for 2008. Porsche doesn't offer free maintenance like BMW, but then again BMW is baking the cost of the program into each and every car it sells in the US so you're paying for it in a different way. On my two 997s, the only cost to me has been tires (but BMW doesn't cover tires so that's no different) and the only "maintenance" item I had was a rear bulb go out which my dealer changed for free in any event.
Never had one thing go wrong with it. but man, that front bumper is low, and would scrape every time he pulled it into or backed it out of my drive way. And, my incline is not that steep.
But, as quickly as that thing can hit 100 MPH, it can go from 100 to zero in a fraction of that time... By far the best brakes I have ever seen.
Edit- ** I take that back. He did have something go wrong with it. It sat in the garage for a month, and wasn't started. He went out to take it for a spin, and it wouldn't crank. He needed a new battery. The guy at Porsche told him most porsche owners get 20 years out of their battery- as long as they drive the car once or twice a week... Don't know how true that is...

Yes I would. I am very satisfied with BMW, besides the battery problem. I love the car
. I know many people with BMW's no problems. OP: I am sorry to hear about your problems.

I've purchased 6 BMWs in 10 years. None have been flawless but all have had minimal issues averaging maybe 1 unscheduled repair per year. The '02 M5 had the most issues but most of those were sensor errors that were simply reset and I went on. Above 60k miles, it did have a few more issues but those were to be expected in a car like that, and the way I drove it (brakes, clutch, etc) and a few high mileage type issues (EGR issues, etc).
If BMW continues to provide the type of car Ilike to drive, I will be a continued repeat customer.
