My Ride: 2007 Sapphire Black Metallic 525i. Beige Dakota Leather, Premium package, bluetooth, BMW Assist, Xenon adaptive lights, Sirius radio
It also is a LCI with a great color combo. Also means a year longer factory warranty

Only you can decide if it's worth the money or not but it does sound like you're upgrading more than just a little bit...
- 2008 is likely an LCI which had some nice improvements with the interior and a few other software things.
- 528i is more powerful than your current 525i.
- New car has navigation.
- You like the color combo.
- One more year of warranty.

My Ride: BMW 525i e60 (private) M-style,, Carbon Black, HUD, MM Interface.
And a BMW 325 e90 (Business),
And not to forget, New toys alway make you feel gooooooooood (at least, that is until your new bank statement comes in).
Tough choice

Hi there. Former Maxima owner myself. 528i is a nice car, but hard to say how much more powerful you'll find the 230hp than your current. any way you slice it, its no VQ35 So there are no thrills to be found there, just a very silky smooth, linear powerband.
I'd look into the ammenity upgrades, warranty as deciding factors, and MILEAGE frankly.
You can buy an additional extended 2yr warranty and upgrade your nav for half that cost upgrade , i'd think. A BMS Power Box and RPI filter/scoop combo is cheap and can get you an additional 15hp. Just food for thought.
Good luck with your decision.

Doesn't sound like a significant upgrade to me, certainly not one that would warrant a 9K investment, but for the reasons Rudy points out it is indeed an upgrade. That said, the LCI upgrades don't justify 9K, and you will not notice the extra 10 to 15bhp in the 2008 528. I'd suggest it would feel like much more of an upgrade if you could find a way into an early 535. Here you'll be spending 9K for little benefit if you did go for the 528.

For some reason I think the 528 is 255 hp?

No , the older 530's are. For some reason BMW felt the need to ditch the 530 badge, remove the triple stage intake from the N52 motor on the 528 to dress up the power difference of the 535 motor to showroom walkers. Would you pay for a premium for a twin turbo that on paper only adds 45 hp? But 70hp difference..now thats more attractive.
