My Ride: 2011 520dA coming up.
I have noticed no difference in the sensitivity dial.
Page 57 of my manual clearly describes how the wheel is used to "Adjust the rain sensor sensitivity level"
Agree 100% -- I like to be in control of how much rain is on the screen before it decides to wipe. I spent some time driving an M-B without a sensitivity adjustment and it drove me crazy -- it wiped way too often! As I've said before, the E39 was about perfect. Hopefully the E60's will be refined with future software updates...
In mine it does make a difference and i'm very happy with it, even more because i have to turn it on by myself
In the MB it was always left on.
I can remember changing wiper blades at least 3 times a winter because the bloody thing wanted to wipe a frozen windshield and ripped the blades in pieces (i always have the car running for a short time in winter before driving of)

My Ride: 535d Titanium Silver, Black Nasca Leather, Servotronic Steering, , De-Chrome, Bi-Xenons including Headlight Washer Jets, adaptive headlights, Advanced A/C, Auto Dim Interior & Exterior Mirrors, Electric Folding Mirrors, Front Centre Sliding Armrest, extended lights package
thanks people
A general impression is that the sensitivity switch makes no difference
I don't know my software version but can not be that old as the 535d over here only started production aroun Oct 2004 Will check it out
In my case rotating the knob is a waste of time
Thank you all
