I have the staggered sport wheels. In the winter though, I put dunlop winter sport 3d's 245-40-18's all around on stock 124 sport wheels. Got three winters out of the 1st set. Got a new set on there right now. I'm so glad I didn't go with 17" wheels! Handling is great. Snow traction is fine. I go skiing now and then, with no problems.

I really liked the dunlop wintersport 3D's that I had. Now I have the pirelli wintersport 210's and I can't wait till they wear out, not very pleased with them.

Well it has a pretty hard rubber compound and doesn't grip very well braking is ok but only because I don't drive very fast in the winter. But anytime you are taking off from a stop they spin, they even spin on dry pavement when its cold. I have the older model and I have heard that the newer model 210's are much better but I think I will be reluctant to buy pirelli again.

Okay so we got a BIG snow storm yesterday and into today. First time driving on the WS-70 blizzaks in these conditions. I honestly can say that the forum feedback was correct and that these tires are bad-ass. I truly had the utmost control over the car and even pushing it around corners ( in a safe area ) I didn't slip or fishtail the least bit. ON the highway it was like driving an all wheel drive vehicle.

I run 225/40-19s Blizzak LM-25V on my 550. They feel good on dry roads -obviously louder than my PS2's but not bad. I think they work better in the snow than my previous Dunlop wintersports 245/45-17 on my e39 but it's hard to tell car to car differences.

Insane driving without winter tires on a BMW in our area- the proper tires work GREAT with the right tread and (more importantly) temperature rating.

Tirerack is great and where I go-
