That is because there are no such thing as "run-flat wheels". You can put run-flat tires, winter, all season or summer on any type of rim. I am surprised 30 different shops failed to tell you that.

Shad- I have a 530i touring and I am going with 17 inch rims ( style 135 replica's) and dunlop M3's for winter from Lakeshore wheel and tire. The tire companies that you have been visiting are pulling your leg. I have checked out several tire companies in Canada ( I'm from Edmonton) and the prices are considerably higher here. The closest to US prices is 1010 tires from Vancouver. You can order the tires mouted &balanced; you just have to get them mounted on your car.
OEM rims in Canada will be at least 2-4 times as expensive as replicas. \

I am not a very technical person, but they said the shape of the run flat wheels is different in a way to hold the tires in different way and reqular wheels will not hold the run flat ones. they said i have to go with oem from bmw.
The savings may cost you more than you want in the long and short run...
Noticed this in my sign?
Style 244 rims with Nokian RSi RF 225/50 17" for the winter

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
My new Tire Rack catalogue arrived today and listed several snow RFTs (aka thumpflat) brands for up to 17" wheels (as I recall). Surprisingly, they were relatively cheap (read: same price as on regular tires). But then, why would you want runflats? I'd do anything to get away from them--including mounting my regular snows; what relief for 5 mos a year!
