I'm having my windshield replaced tomorrow. An incredibly small stone caused an incrediblly large crack(please, no Star Jones jokes). Has anyone out there in E60 land had a windshield replaced? If so, how did it go? I'm getting a genuine BMW OEM repacement, by the way.

Are you having it done at a BMW dealership? From your sig, I see you don't have a HUD. If you do, you'll need a special HUD windshield...

No HUD. BMW windshield. Glass Doctor. Believe it or not, they have replaced more 'shields than my dealer.

I had mine done at a well known screen place here in the UK, in fact it was the first one they had ever done and they made a right pigs ear of it. They couldn't get the (new) side trim piece to fit properly on the passenger side and it still sticks up slightly now.

Just make sure when you pick the car up that these pieces are correctly installed

I have concerns just for those types of reasons. However, the BMW dealer would present the same concerns.

How much does it cost to have it replaced? I got the same cracked windshield due to a small rock, I think. Going at 80 mph, I didn't even see it.

My windshield cracked a couple of months ago and tried to get it replaced by the dealer under warranty. Needless to say, they found a small impact point where a very tiny rock hit it. I have not replaced it yet and am waiting until sometime in the spring after the roads have been cleaned of the rocks/salt.

PS. My 5 year old daughter has noticed that the crack has grown.

I believe they said the windshield was around 700 to 750 dollars. The impact point of the rock was no larger than a pin prick. The crack has grown to approx. 18 inches.
