Windscreen Wipers

Yes I agree. I've noticed that on the 7 series and the previous E39 5 series too. In fact I wrote to BMW UK when the E39 originally came out. They responded that the wipers were efficient enough to clear the windscreen area. Its surprising that they can afford to place the wipers correctly on other BMW models but not the 5, 6 and 7s.

Wipers on right hand drive cars go from left to right. So drivers side of windscreen have a clearer part of the screen.
If you're in a LHD car, trying sitting in the passenger side and see the parts of the windscreen not cleared by the wipers. Now imagine you were driving on that side like us in RHD cars.

I think he's talking about where the wiper control is. It's on the right side of the wheel and I would guess turn signal is on left side. Causes confusion for a right hand drive car because turn signal is where wiper control should be and vice versa. I experienced it in Australia and was frequently turning on the wipers when I wanted to signal.

rem,
Yes you were wrong, we were talking about the actual wiper movement The wiper control stalk is fine. The indicator/turn signal stalk has always been on the left side of the steering wheel. A lot of Japanese cars in the past had their indicator stalks on the opposite side (right side of steering wheel).
