- I have had my e60 530i for about 14 years and till this day I can’t fix how the windows and sunroof occasionally opening by themselves. It’s not my fob key and nobody is accidentally pushing it to open all the windows and roof. The battery on the fob and the car is fully charged . I went away for holidays for a month and left the trickle charger on the e60 (in the enclosed garage) for 5 weeks and when I returned home all the windows and the roof were open. Nobody had been near the car or the keys and the keys were inside the house . Has anybody else found what the issue is here?

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately nothing comes up on the codes. My auto electrician can’t work it out either. He initially thought it might have something to do with the battery being low on charge but that has been put to bed by me leaving the fully charged battery attached to the trickle charger and still the windows and roof opened. I was hoping someone else who has experienced the same
1) battery fully charged
2) fobs not being held down
3) doors and windows open in random places around the city. Sometimes it happens every 3/4 weeks and other times it may take 5/6 months
3) no codes showing up on DTC
4) car is sitting in dry storage

You have an intermittent issue is why. You cannot catch those statically. The issue could be due to many things, e.g. wiring, module(s), connection(s), etc etc.

Thanks again Don, and I totally agree with you. In the event that over the past 20 years the e60 has been around there’s obviously Thames a high possibility that someone has already experienced the same frustrating issues which could help put this gremlin to bed.
