My Ride: 2005 530i stock...can't decide which rims to get!
Default

Hi Everyone, newbie here

My 2005 530i (my first BMW ) the front passenger side window seems to have a mind of its own. When it's rolled down, I pull the switch to do the auto-up, it will sometimes go half-way up and go back down again on its own. It doesn't do it all the time but sometime. Anyone know whats going on or have had the same problem?

Thanks

I had the same thing - search "anti-trap" for this, it;s a known issue. I told my dealer about it and they replaced the window motor under warranty - no more problems since, good luck

BTW welcome to the forum and the 5er family, enjoy your time here

Its probably an anti-trap malfunction, Ive had that happen a few times in the 3 years I've owned my car. I complained to the dealer, but the few times it happened it fixed itself after a couple of start ups. However when mine did that, I believe I got an iDrive warning as well. I would see if the problem keeps up, then maybe bring it in to be checked out. But as I said, it only happened a few times for me, and it was some time ago.

As the window is pushed up the water tight seal is adding resistance. The system thinks you have something getting stuck so kicks the windows back down.

It will never happen in the rain as it lubricats it.

I stuck a screw driver down the gap and opened it up a little, and its fixed.

Be careful!!!!!!!!
