Dear forum,

I have an 2004 5 series that has to have work performed by the BMW dealer on my front 166 rim. The dealer SA says they will put my 17 inch spare, (on Pass. side front), in place of my 19 inch 166 rim until it is repaired bt BMW, and should be safe.

QUESTION: Has anyone here at the forum ever drove their e60 BMW with one tires two sizes below the other three on their e60 BMW? If so, what can of problems can I expect to have, if any? Do you have any advice for me in driving my 5 series with not a full size 17 spare tire, and the other three 166 19's? The spare I will be using is a doughnut type 17 inch rim and with a new Continal tire that came new with my 2004 530i?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You should be fine for short distance. As it is meant to be used for emergency and not for long term usage.

The "donut" spare has approximately the same rolling radius as your original full tire(s); it is intended for temporary use and should NOT be driven at high speeds.
