LL -04 0W 30 known brands doesn't make too much difference (Castrol, Shell, Exxon etc.),
but Mobil 1 is the very best of oils by numerous tests.
I dont think it is TBH its still made with a mineral oil base stock and doesnt have a synthetic base like the Fuch oils do. Silkolene Synthetics are supposed to be better as are some of the American made synth oils(Amsoil).

The main thing to me with oil is that it meets LL04 spec and is a desiel designed oil to help keep everything clean which the same viscocity non derv oil wont do as well.

All these oils are fully synthetic.

Go only for large known brands.

Yes i know but they can still be called a synthetic oil even if using a mineral base stock. The days of Mobil being the best oil have long gone , although it is still a very good oil.

Personally I would only put the oil that I linked to in my first post into my 530d. A handy tip come service time is to supply your own oil to the dealer for a service so they cant rip you off on the price(in the UK anyway).

Whatever.

I take my car into service when needed and then I can choose from 3 brands, Castrol, Shell and Mobil 1,
all very good oils.

Since '95 I usually don't drive more than some 20 - 50,000 km's before I buy a new car.

Should I care about the oil brand?

Not - but I still do.
