There is currently a torque limit on the Audi DSG, which is why it's not seen on the bigger diesel engined cars (and why transplanting it into a BMW diesel wouldn't be a good idea!). This is currently a major restriction for those wanting to tune DSG equiped TTs. (Did I mention I'm Vice Chairman of the TT Owners Club? ).

I think SMG will become available on future diesels like Audi's DSG.

The problem is that SMG is manual with paddles so there is a time delay when it changes gear. It has to release the gear, press the clutch and then shift to another gear. This is "supose" to be abit jerky aswell.

Unlike Audi's DSG is an auto with paddles do its much smoother.

DSG is not auto transmission, it's manual with douple clutch and douple powerlines. If anyone has seen pictures of that, you can imagine how much it cost to repair, why it's more expensive and why it's more difficult to built to take torque.
