Heel n' toe

My Ride: 2004 545i 6 spd Sports Package | NAV | PDC | Logic 7 | BT retrofit | SW V13.3
I have developed a pretty good understanding of my gear ratios over the last couple of months. I can downshift 7 or 8 out of 10 times perfectly matching revs. I very sweet feeling. Upshifts take more work, I have the CDV in there. I have been told I will void the warranty if I mess with it.
My problem is that cannot heel n' toe effectively. The brake and throttle are close enough, but the throttle is musch lower than the brake. I would have to really stomp the brake in order to get it low enough to get the side of my foot on the throttle. So forget about smoothness. This is my first BMW. I thought that the pedal set up would be perfect in the Ultimate Driving Machine. Is it me, my car or are all E60s like this.
Any ideas?

It's okay, I don't heel and toe that well either. Like you, I can rev match pretty well, but can only heel and toe smoothly on occasion. I think it's all just practice, repetition and playing around with your foot position.

That's odd, on my 545 I find the throttle pedal is high. I really need to swing my right knee to the center and pivot my leg to get the right angle, especially if I'm braking hard.
It's strange that your's seems too low, I'll check out some other cars next time I'm at the dealer. I'll also ask if they can adjust it. You might try that also.

Okay seriously .... Hormazd, I think you need to re-adjust your seating position based on your description. I'll bring the M5 on the meet so you can compare. The buttomline is that it takes alot of practice on an empty road to work this heel and toe think, have you been to any driving school and/or track events?? They will show you a few things that most first timer goes "wow!! I never knew that!! or Damn!! I've been doing it all wrong.."
We'll chat more at the meet next months
