We have B-I-G-G-E-R and W-I-D-E-R roads.
Folding mirrors would be great here in San Francisco. Most of the streets here are too narrow.

We dont get it all our own way in Europe and think the US gets the better deal from BMW. We only get the basic Auto. Aircon, its over $1K more for the advanced aircon. Folding mirroors with dimming are a cost option, they dont come standard. We get on miserly power socket upfront in a executive saloon!, aux imput is just becoming available as standard.
We do get great diesels denied in the US though.

I think the power fold mirrors is a bad idea.

If you take your car to the car wash, some moron is going to try and fold your mirrors by hand to put it through the wash, and they'll likely break a power mirror.

I have power mirrors on my Toyota and they can also be folded in by hand.

That's Toyota. BMW cannot do it.
Just like quality. Toyota can do it, but BMW cannot beat Camry's quality.

I would disagree about quality. And while I may be a little biased my wife also thinks Toyota is not quite up to its reputation. That said she does like her Toyota but wishes BMW made a people mover that could replace her Sienna.

The E60 M5 has them standard, so clearly there is precedent. Although, the side mirrors are a different shape. I'm surprised they didn't add this feature to the 07 MY since the 3-series has them... perhaps in the September update, along with soft-close doors and trunk?

I find the power-fold feature useful for parking lots and street parking. Use it at least once a week if not more.

I have had an 06 330 loaner for the last couple of days and it has power folding mirrors. Whats the deal with that, why dont the U.S. E60s also have this. Doesnt make sense to me.

I have them on my A4 and they're not that useful. Kinda of a gimmick here in the US IMHO. A case can be made for drive-thrus, but whats four inches more to reach for your food. I'd imagine in some crowded town in Italy the feature might be cool. Generally, its useless and it can be particularly annoying in the Audi given its slow reaction time and that activation occurs only as the car reaches 10 mph or less.
