why does AC turn on

You'll get used to it, maybe even learn to appreciate it, I figure it's the small price you pay for not having to turn a key, now you just gotta turn the a/c dial

My AC doesnt turn on... only the fan does... which i'm ok with... i usually manually turn off the AC a few block before i get to my destination and when i shut down the car i turn the fan onto the lowest setting and the next day it returns with the same settings.

Correct, there was a misuse of the word a/c. It is the fans that come on, but comes on to the set air temp, which tends to be in the colder sides/all the way to the left in my e60.
