Congrats!! Beautiful!
I just picked up my '08 535xi last night, what a big difference from my '04 530i!! I have the Sport package on this car so the suspension is a little firmer and it seems to corner MUCH better. The EPA highway rating is 25. Should be a fun weekend!

Here is a pic of my car's sticker with highway miles. Oh Yeah! It's finally here. I will pick up on Friday/Saturday. Waiting for installation of mods. (see sig).
So did they give you final word on whether or not they can install the M kit? Best of luck with the car and I hope for a speedy 24 hours!

bmw093, we've been talking this issue for a bit now I know, but here's another take.

BMW - whether at the factory or at the VPC - must deliver DOT-certified cars. What we do with them after we get them is up to us. So, if we do a mod that is against DOT rules, that's our issue, not BMW's. My point is that if we chose to install the "old" reflector-less aero-kit at the BMW dealer or at some other installer, there's no reason why we can't. As a result, I'll bet that you or anyone else could get the old aero kit installed, just not at the VPC.

Just a thought.

I agree 100% -- BMW NA doesn't want to put a non-DOT certified car on the road--it's illegal. I doubt the dealer would want to do it either (if they paid attention), and perhaps can't even buy the part for an '08 without circumventing some rule along the way. An '08 owner could, on the other hand, buy the kit and have the kit put on privately or by themselves, and take whatever risk there is regarding police, inspection, etc. (which I think is a pretty small risk). Of course there is also the risk, however small, that the '07 kit really, for some odd reason or another, doesn't fit. That wouldn't make sense to me, but there is that element of a gamble--I think I'd wait for someone else to do it first. Your point is great: there is hope if you want the M Aero kit on an '08.

I have a 2008 535xi that I am picking up in a couple of weeks - as I understand the sports package on 535xi only gives you the sports steering wheel, showdowline trim and comfort seats - should have nothing to do with suspension.

Well, it seems that way. The part number thay are installing is 51 71 0 396 684 for the kit(w.PDC) and 51 71 0 148 785 for rear spoiler. Those numbers matched up as the current pre LCI.

I went in to go over some numbers this afternoon, and I was told that the kit is currently being painted. I cannot wait for all of it to be installed, so I am taking delivery on Sat am. I will do install on Mon/Tuesday. The M167 wheels will be intalled this evening though.

I am still nervous about the whole ordeal since, installation is not yet complete, and who knows what they will find once they get started.
Looking forward to it being over though. This started on Feb 13th for me.

Talking

Picked up my 528 xi today.
No problem - Good experience at - Patrick BMW-Chicago (Tim Gadomski-Manager, he is good and Professional.)
Usually no good experience with car dealers in the past, Honda-Toyota-Acura)

Platinum gray: [Dark gray with very light greenish tint in bright light /sunlight ] [almost black in shade/less light}
Gray Dakota: great contrast with light poplar trim and black floor matts. Family loves interior more than exterior.
I Drive : have to get use to it, complex ? Like Settings.
