D--thanks. Has your dealer confirmed that the cars have passed EPA? I'm wondering why we are all getting different info. My dealer should call me tomorrow and he speaks directly with the person who runs VPC in NJ. Hopefully I'll have some answers by tomorrow.
He did not tell me anything about the epa..all he said was that the car was on a truck and had left the vpc for the dealership and he would tell me whne it came to the shop..i presume if the car has left the vpc then it has cleared the epa

I would agree 100%. Great news and thanks for the update. It seems that the 2 people here who landed in SC are now "on the road." I think both of you were on the Courage. I was on the Courage too, landing in NJ. I would assume I have to be "on the road" too now unless there are separate EPA officials in NJ who are taking longer to clear the NJ cars--but once cleared by SC, don't you have to figure that they are cleared nationwide??

I assume EPA check/certification applies to all cars (nationwide), I hope EPA do not have different specifications for different States or Cities and the foreign car companies may have to build the cars per those states / cities(IL, NY, NJ,CA and so on. ) . Just a thought. May be in future. Ha , Ha .

Is it April 1st?????? Oh mannnnn that would be good news!!! I'm calling my dealer now....
My 528 has been in the port in New Jersey since March 23. Still can't get an answer as to when it will be released. meanwhile I'm putting miles on my trade in 2004 530i. Very frustrating.

This Jersey City port seems to be trouble, and I'm not sure why. Could be the typical volume problems of New York/New Jersey (just look at the airport delays, traffic, etc.) It's pretty clear that the cars have been EPA approved (and one would think that our cars that have been waiting would get priority) but, again, it's NY/NJ and there may just be a serious backlog. What does your salesperson say?

Congratulations!!!!!!
The cars were approved as of yesterday, and trucks were waiting for approval to clear out the inventory they had sitting at the ports. So the cars moved out quickly. For everyone's reference, I came in on the Courage, and arrived in Jersey City on April 1 or 2. I think it's fair to say that anyone who got to Jersey City on or before that date, is on the way to their dealer.
