Hmmmm. That sounds strange. If you enter the VIN, the car should show if it's been boarded (which BMW says it is). Maybe double check the VIN on BMWUSA OC and give it another shot.....
Hey thanks again. My bad, can't copy and paste on the bimmer site so I messed up by 1 digit. I am on the "Toronto", due in NY on 4/5/2007. I guess my dealer is accurate in saying second week of April. Thanks again.

Go to http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/
Highlight Customer Centre and click on cargo tracking. Then go to track by and click Auto Cargo, enter your VIN under cargo ID. This will give you the most details.

Then search "schedule" and you can see the stops the ship has made.

Then to the site I linked above to track the ship.

Then get back to work.

Thanks for the tracking link it came in very handy. Below is the information that I extracted from the website.

DISCHARGED NEW YORK, NY 23/03/2007 11:00
LOADED ON VESSEL NEW YORK, NY 12/03/2007 10:00
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL NEW YORK, NY 11/03/2007 10:00
BOOKED NEW YORK, NY 05/03/2007 09:00

Does discharged mean that the car is on its way to the VPC? Will I be getting a call any day to pick my car?

It sounds to me like it's there (at the port) and undergoing the final testing there. I have thought all along that in US we won't get these cars until after auto show on April 6th, but it sounds like yours is ready to go??!! You may just win our US award for the first delivery!

To be sure, I'd call the dealer and ask what those words mean and what he/she thinks would be delivery date.

Shouldn't there be a thread "Who's first in US"?

Being "first" on this forum is one boat that has been missed.

When do they give you your VIN number? After the car is born or when it goes into production?

Check the BMW owners circle website a few days after the production number comes up and VIN should be issued.

i have had the production number since march 10th from my sales rep. I've never seen it on the o.c. website. Is there some specific place i should be looking or do you get all of this information after it is built?

Go to OC, add new car to your account, enter production number. Your car should come up with VIN if you have had prod # since 3/10 (mine was 3/6 and was next day). You do have to actually add it to your account though for it to track. If you have trouble call the 800#.

When you get into BMW OC click on
Manage my BMW
Order Tracking

At some point you have to enter the production number so it knows what to track.

A better suggestion is to call 800.831.1117, ask for 'vehicle production status' and then give your production number.

It's much more up to date than OC.

Best of luck.
