I drove the 335 coupe 6spd and it was a beast with no lag. But it was kind of flat, I could not feel the torque. My guess is that this is more pronounced in the 535. I have not driven one and now that my 550 is on order, I really don't care to compare.

Besides there is no 6 spd available yet and this makes a world of difference with the smaller 6.

I know what you're talking about, I keep saying that the new twin turbo engines are somewhat, I don't know how to word this, flat would be good I guess. It goes pull hard like the V8s, but it pulls quick, not really sure how to describe it. Got into my 550i after work and tore it up on the way back home, put a smile on my face and kept thinking how in the world am I going to live without my V8 haha........

Even the 335s slow down on the freeways after a certain speed, they still go, but it slows down dramatically where as the V8s just keep on trucking. I haven't been in a vishnu modified 335i before but I'm curious now, hopefully someone at Bimmerfest will give me a chance to ride or drive one.

Did you notice the same lag in the 335i?

I think I'm going to be ordering either a 335 or a 535 in the next couple of months.
I felt exactly same in 335 and decided not to order 535. Looks like I was right.

That's right baby! It's called Vishnu! http://www.vishnutuning.com/

I'm considering the 535, instead of the 550 next, for this very reason.

These guys already have a remap for the 335. 300HP to 380 HP for around $1400. And this is only the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised to see these numbers push 400HP soon. Same will be avail for the 535 I'm sure.
This won't fix turbo lag, it will make it even worse.

For that aspect, one day you may get to drive a 535d (or better) diesel...

So stepping up to the 535 from a 535/530 will be a no brainier upgrade. However going from a 545/550 to a 535 is a downgrade.
I won't upgrade from 530 to turbo. If BMW does not offer good NA engine with AWD by the time my lease is up, I am out.

The new 530 engine is significantly better.

Not available in US. BMW NA in its typical infinite wisdom only gives us turbo or 525/528.

I think the solution was to make sure the 535i has a oil cooler. I think the 335i sedans/coupes that went into limp mode didn't have the oil filter.
A post on bimmerfest showed two pictures of what was stated to be an oil cooler in the 535 (see http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthrea...ight=oil+cooler), and I noticed piping low on the radiator of a 535ix that the salesman said was for an oil cooler. I'm no mechanic, but it appears that the 535's have that feature.

By the time the 335 slows down you're at Put me to death sentence speeds... Good freeway acceleration speeds would be anywhere from 50 to 120 and the 335 still shines brighter than the V8s at the moment I think... I think the auto contributes to the lag of the 535... where as a manual or SMG would be differnt.
