Why not just get an Alpina B5? And, I agree with others. Before I would supercharge a 545i, I would get an M5--e.g., an M5 with no options. But, of course, there is the stealth factor. If you are interested in a stealther, then what could be better than a supercharged 545i?

Why ?
Because here in Italy a well equipped 545i/550i costs, as new, 80k euros .
But my country is diesel-land and high cilinder displacement cars have an incredible depreciation, even BMW .. After 4 months I could get only 50-55k euros, I think .
There are surely less than 100 545i in Italy, half of them resold a year later by the BMW Italia managers .
Here only 535d!

Thus the only chance I have is to supercharge my 545i .

I've also a CooperS, so I'd have two supercharged cars .

Welcome Alec and AlexFW.
Thanks a lot!

I've read about several of their cars in EuropeanCar and all the write ups seem very good. Now that you've mentioned it, EC had a Golf/GTI shootout and I think one of the top performers was a pretty much stock R32 with a VF supercharger...was that yours? haha

As for pricing, I think it might actually be less than $9K since that's how much they're charging for the 645.
The R32 in question was not mine, however below was:

Fun little car, but still a total pig for its class.

In other news, I have a feeling their pricing tiers have zero correlation to actual model cost. Being a return customer, Nik quoted me much less than 9, but said the kit would fall in the range I posted above.

Then again, I've been wrong before.

That's a clean looking R32...very much a sleeper. I used too (probably still am) a hardcore VW fanatic. I've had 4 VWs...one was a heavily modified '85 Scirocco II. On occasion I still think about finding a clean 16V Scirocco and making a project car out of it.

Hey, did Nik mention when they'll finish the supercharger for the 545?

Thanks.

It's funny, even as was, I would get every 16-20yr old revving me on a taxingly consistent basis. It is truly mind boggling how much attention intercooler plumbing draws; maybe not so coincidentally, their latest kits retain the stock honeycomb plastic, and hide all the goods (a route I would have much rather preferred).

As an aside, I couldn't think of a better project than an '88 16v. IMO, that wedge was one of the sexiest little cars penned.

I'm practically certain they've already completed a few 545 installs, and having driven his sc'd e39 540, I can only imagine what a beast the e60 would be. As I said earlier, if you drop them a line, I'm certain they'd give you a quote. A lot of their work remains 'In Development' on their site, while their bays are packed full of cars listed as such. Either way, I'll ask him.

It appears as if I've spoken a bit out of my posterior.

Nik has informed me that the e60 is still in dev, but not to fret, for they're merely tweaking the software side of the tuning now.

It should be right around the corner.
