2004 545i - 169,000 miles. Valve stem seals replaced and coolant leak fixed. Car runs great otherwise.

2004-530I 140,100. I have Replaced the fan switch (leaking coolant), water pump, thermostat, oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket, and thats is so far. although my transmission went in to malfunction and will not reset. I believe it is valve body solenoids. I ordered new ones and hopefully it will correct my transmission issue!!

Default miles

170,000 on my '04 545i. Three alternators, three water pumps, two a/c compressors, three transmission pans, three windshields, steering rack, HVAC control panel and fan motor parts, almost $4000 in replacement seals and gaskets to try to keep the oil from leaking out of the engine at every place possible, a host of niggling things at 400 to 600 a pop, all service by the book or better. No one can believe that the transmission hasn't failed yet as predicted by the service folks at the dealership 50,000 miles ago. At least it's paid for. But noteworthy is the opinion of the service folks at the dealership who brush of my outrage and the string of failures and defects when they say the "well, BMW doesn't expect their customers to own the cars for more than the limits of the factory warranty so the parts they install have about that lifespan". Then I remind them that my 1985 745i (gray market) doesn't leak any oil.......I will never own a BMW any newer that '04. They have lost their way and after over 30 years and 12 cars, they have lost me as a customer.

114,000 or so on my '08 535i. One tranny flush so far, doing another soon, along with a diff fluid change. Runs great on 87 octane gas.

I did see a e60 in gemany with 650.000 km on the clock somewhere in 2009. Mine (E60, 520) has 330.000 km on the clock with LPG (Liquid Petrolium Gas)
