whiney steering

Common fault, BMW have even released a Service Bulletin for it. If you take it to a dealer they'll flush the steering fluid and add a lubricant to it. In my case, this stopped the noise for about 6 months.

The next official BMW step is to replace the steering rack which, on an out-of-warranty car, is not cheap.

someone mention that before. is that Service Bulletin only in the UK, because here in the US my dealership has not been able to fix mine. do you know what number it is? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Mine developed noise just recently.

My alignment guy (I know him well) told me that my tie rod seized when he tried to adjust the toe.
This could be the problem that BMW's tie rods don't last.

I lubed everything from steering column, steering shaft join w/ rack w/ Dupont Multi Purpose.
It eliminates a little but the main creaking is still there.

It's strange that when you raise two front wheels, the noise went away.
It's only when the front suspension are loaded.

I'll be DIYing the tie rods within the next week or two
