Where are E60s built?
#1
All along I thought all E60s are built/assembled in Germany. Today I spoke to an assistant sales manager from Performance Motors, which distributes BMWs in Singapore, and he told me 520s and 3-series are all made in SA.
Anyone can confirm that 520s are made in South Africa?

E60 is actually to be built in other locations but *ONLY* based off kit assemblies designed in Germany.
The S. Africa E46's (and forthcoming 3) were partial kits from Germany but there is now talk of an engine plant and full assembly.
The China plant is a JV with Brilliance in Northern China to assemble *ALL* higher volume BMW's in China for tax and various other reasons. These come as kits from Germany today with also talks of engine manufacturing.

Actually E46's at the BMW SA plant in Rosslyn are still being imported to the US. The Rosslyn plant now does a signfiicant volume of export vehicles as well. (the plan actually is comparable to the Munich facility from a quality point of view)
