it says the BMW diesel will come to US/Canada in 2008 as 2009 model. it does not say which car. I believe it is most likely as 335d e92.... but e60 I dont know....

please dont make us drive diesel bmw's.
Do not compare a BMW diesel to, for example, a Mercedes E Class 220CDI. They are in a different league.
AS a recent buyer of an E60 Diesel, I can tell you that there is nothing to fear...
My 525d sounds almost V8ish when pushed (obviously not quite
) as opposed to a S6 Diesel inside and the performance is truly excellent. Even outside, whilst you can tell it's a diesel, it is very muted. Compared to my previos Lexus IS220d (new shape) and Audi A4, this animal is excellent - BMW know how to make good diesels in the same way they can make good Petrol units.
The torque even from the 3.0l 190+odd BHP unit is excellent - 400NM (295l/b p/s/f) is a bit like the torque you get in a sports car - say a Porsche...
And if you like your performance, just try a 535d...you will SMILE
you squeeze the throttle in any gear at any speed, and you just watch the world go by...and all th time it only sips fuel...

I know since i have a 520d and it's damn loud... think of changing cars....... Diesels don't sound that sexy, that's for sure.

but when fuel costs $10 p/gallon in the states they'll all be driving one !!In the UK we pay a fortune for derv - approximately ?6 or $11 for a UK gallon (slightly bigger than the US one), and that extra 8-10 MPG does add up over the year, even if you can afford to buy Germany's best!!
Also - the 6 Cyl's don't sound too loud at all...
