While cleaning my Mass Airflow Sensor, I spotted an empty large threaded hole under the plastic cover at the front of the cylinder head on my '06 525i. Seems odd. I'm attaching a pic. Is anything supposed to be in there? What's this threaded hole at the front of the engine-dsc01539.jpg

Could be for eyebolt to enable lifting when engine is being handled during assembly / fitting.

I'd tend to agree that it's redundant except the threads do look suspiciously clean compared to the surroundings (unless you gave it a wipe of course)

I didn't clean it. That was what first caught my eye. But the engine bay is pretty clean overall, so I'm not going to sweat it unless I hear otherwise on the forum.

Thanks.
