Hi Dave congrats on your car. Look none of the cars are perfect below 200.000? but!!! for diesel you have to break her in nicely as mentioned in the manual. 2L engine is a nice one, small for the car but perfect! for crusing, my friend came with me to remap i to 200hp and now he did 245km/h in Germany, but this will only happen with a good remap and patience while braking in.

For your Sunroof problems, yes you are right, but hey do not please give up tell your dealer you have this problem, not your fault!!!! let them do it and if they do not want tell them that we normally do: " We did not buy the car for .... ? to have such problems!" good luck
Thanks for the comments .... I am off to the Dealer next Wednesday ... They are assigning their 'Technical Specialist' to my case ... Sounds promising and heres hoping to a rattle free future in the Beemer ... I have to say that it is one of the sexiest cars on the road though!

I don't want to hear anybody who doesn't have a V-8 engine in their E60 complaining about sluggish performance.

I can understand Kalibraaa's point of view. I don't think he was saying his car was junk, He said he isn't happy with it at the moment. Ok so it isn't a 'top dollar' car, but quite frankly what is? A 5er is a expensive car, and when you pay your money you do expect a quality car and one without any problems as such. I know nothing is perfect, and things do go wrong but when you pay money (particuarly 5 money) for something which isn't right you would be annoyed. And (I think?) he just needs to voice his annoyance with this, and asked for any info on his problems. I'm not sideing with anyone, I just felt Kalibraa was a little hard done by.

I suggest, next time you put a smiley in your post if it is not meant that serious or a j/k (just kidding). If not things can get out of control very easily.

Agreed with the original poster.
When you pay a lot for a car (i.e., you did not buy a Toyota or a Honda), you expect a little more. Yes, no car is perfect, but you expect that the more expensive cars will be more perfect than the less expensive ones.
With better manufacturing techniques today, some Toyotas are turning to have better quality results than some BMWs.
On the other hand, some more complicated vehicles like the BMW are going to have more problems because they are not run of the mill cars.

I think that the real key is how BMW reacts to fix the problem. I hope it is agreed that no sunroof should be making unexpected noises. To "whine" that an expensive car is producing an unexplained noise is not really whining. I do believe that we should expect easy problems to be solved easily.

I love this site because everyone is helpful and the code of conduct is to support, not attack one another. We all have really nice 5 series cars. I welcome the "newbie" to the board (I was there just a few months ago myself), and I look forward to his future reports on his new vehicle.

Best,
