Well first of all, are you sure that wasn't a cop flashing those lights?

Second -- to really make this little experiment fair, you guys should have swapped cars and done another run -- not that I'm condoning any public street racing... You really don't know how hard the other guy was trying, etc.

I don't know how I missed that last line -- I think I've had way too much coffee this morning!

From the looks of it -- either the others fell for it too or pennetta added that last line after we posted our replies...

Come on pennetta, let's hear the truth -- was the last line added after or are we all just needing to slow down a bit?

It was there all along! Thanks for making the "maybe it was a cop" association, I was trying to do it subtle enough but your the only one that made that connection.
I'm surprised you were so calm about the "550 now has become a 7 series."

Well at least now, if the result ends up being similar to what you posted, you'll know enough to swap drivers and do it again!

The other guy likely wouldn't let a naked man drive his car

I do not know if this has been corrected but I noticed a post a couple pages back claiming the DSG was not a true manual and had a torque converter. That is actually not true and it is a true manual with 2 clutches being controlled by the computer and has no TC as I am sure most of you already know.

No, we said the DSG was not on a true sports sedan.

The 550 was not even close! With the extra 250 lbs of weight hanging from the nose, higher final gearing and late torque curve, it just bogged out of the hole. My 535 jumped from the hole with a half car lenght advantage and gained 4 ft with every shift, by 60 mph I was nearly a full car lenght ahead and by 100 mph it was about two car lenghts. I hit 150 but I had such a lead it was impossible for me to tell if the V8 "finally" came into its own stride. I feel a little sad because I was expecting the 550 to win, now its just like the 7 series.

Funny thing is that as we were slowing down some bozo was behind me flashing his lights and blowing his horn. I hit the gas and was leaving him behind but had to slow for a turn. The A**hole even had flashing blue and red lights flashing, what a loser! As we were going around the turn I cut right at the last second and exited and the jerk just skidded and almost lost control but did not make the turn.

Hope you enjoyed the above, the race got cancelled because of rain today which is expected to continue until the weekend. Next target date is Monday.

HAhahahha Had me fooled for a bit. I was like wow... really? LOL And then when i got to the police part I was like ummmm this guy must be crazy!

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're saying but I don't agree that "entusiast=willing to race on public roads." If you asked to race me, especially on a highway to test top speed, I'd give you a weird look too. I still consider myself an enthusiast though...

Rudy, interestingly enough, I saw an old clip the other day of Ayrton discussing his driving on public roads and he was referring to the fact that he drove so slowly, it annoyed people. Ive been trying to find it on youtube but to no avail. I hope to come across it again. It was from an interview before a race in Germany. Quite interesting. I agree with your statement above.

All the best
