If I had to choose my choice would be to keep the comfort seats. The HUD is nice but really excels when you use the navigation since it displays directions. If you don't use NAV alot then the HUD really doesn't benefit you.
The comfort seats are used every time you sit in the car.

Confort seats, as they are muc h more comfortable then the standard seats. plus, head up display is more of a fancy thing to show off with, The seats are for comfort. You use them on a daily basis

The HUD is very viewable under all lighting conditions. I actually have grown to like the NAV turn view without having to rely on voice or taking a look at the idrive map.
I also have the "sport" seats and they are very comfortable. I do wish in addition to heated, they were "cooled". But then, I'm a softie![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/rolleyes.gif)

I love the HUD. I am most cofortable with my steering wheel adjusted fairly low. But, as with every car I have owned, if the steering wheel is too low, you compromise your view of the top of the instruments. With the HUD I never look down at the guages. Plus I love the Nav function - turn off the voice directions and just silently follow the windshield directions. You can have the idrive on "entertainment" and the passenger doesn't even know you have Nav on. (Also loving the HUD in 'M" mode - but obviously that is model specific. For from being gimmicky or a nice-to-have, I really enjoy it on a daily basis.
That said, I would not get the car without comfort seats. The seats are a done deal, the only question is do you hold out for a HUD. I obliviously would and did. Good luck and keep searching - you will find one with the seats and HUD.

If i were you, i'd try to get both...But, from my oppinion, go for HUD.... This option is not retrofitable. (take it from me, i've tried...its a lot of hard work and also parts. you even have to tear down the dashboard...) the comfort seats can be done as long as you have electric adjustment seats on the car...a few members have done this, even M5 seats have been installed on their 5's...has anybody heard of modding/retrofitting in HUD? i don't think so...
Go for HUD...

Seems like Comfort Seats is the better option. Does anyone have both optional extras on their car who could give an opinion from actual experience?
TIA
TIA
I held out for about 4 months when I changed cars as I too wanted a similar high specced used car. I was lucky to find one with comfort seats and the HUD (amongst others).
The HUD is great if you do long journeys and you listen to music - just switch off the "voice" that talks to you all the time and follow the instrutions on the screen if front of you. No more binging etc.
There is a visual display of distance as you approach each junction which is great if you are on unfamiliar roads and in a hurry - no sudden surprises over the brough of hills.
When I went to France with a few friends last year they could not understand how I instinctivly knew which turn to make without looking at the centre screen. You can only see the information if you are directly in front. It also displays the crusie control settings if used.
I was sceptical at first and it was not on my wishlist but I can honestly say that it is really useful.
There are cars out there with both so I would say keep looking.

Hi - I have head up and totally forget I have it - so comfort seats for me.

I've narrowed down my choice of 2nd hand 5 series BMW. Most of these cars come with the optional extras I want (e.g. full leather seats, media pack etc). However, I really would like Comfort Seats and Head-up display. However, both of these are not very common optional extras on 2nd hand cars and extremely rare to have both. Therefore, I need to pick one option as being more important than the other.
If you could only pick one or the other, which one will you pick and why?

Comfort seats all the way!!!
After all the car DOES come with gauges etc. and if your not comfortable as you drive your car, even a "gee whiz" feature like HUD is NOT going to make up for it! So there are my 2 cents, spend them as you see fit!!

I had HUD in my previous car with sports seats, my current car has comfort seats and no HUD and to be honest I've not missed it. I would however miss comfort seats especially spending 3 hours plus in the car each day.
