What I meant to say is basically this... You wont find too many guys or gals in their 20's driving a 7 series... and thats not because we dont like it... we probably cant afford it. That turns out to be a good thing for people who buy the 7 because that brings them to a new status. They're richhhhhhhhhh biaaaaaatchhhhhh... as David Chappelle would say.
I agree with this but if money is not an issue, I'd go for the 7... very nice car.

I havent driven the 750i, but ive driven the 745Li and 750Li. So comparing the 750Li to the 530i, Its HUGEEE initially. Very VERY problematic to drive initially because of how HUGE it was... especially when i was trying to park at the gas station.... The lack of active steering REALLy messed me up, because the steering wheel on 7 series is too sensitive at low speeds (Servotronic).... But after 2 hours of driving the 750Li, i was LOVING it. It handled so wonderfully... especially on cornering, i actually thought it cornered BETTER than the 530i. On Highways, the 750Li is a BEAST, its the most stable car ive ever driven on highway, much better ride quality than the 530i, maybe because of the adaptive ride? Initially i also had problems with the gear lever, but i got used to it later on.
Gotta love those soft close doors. I hated the Navigation in the 745Li ( It was bluish and VERY hard to use, but i loved how the upcoming street names were displayed on the LCD in front between the speed/rev meter. If i remember correctly, the 750Li version of the Navigation was MUCH improved and i think it was identical to 5 series now, so i was happy about that.
When i drove the 750Li, i was in love with Active Steering, and hated 7 series for not having it... But lately im loving the servotronic on the X5 which is the exact same as 7 series... and actually not liking the active steering so much, because BMW has really messed with the active steering, its not as sensitive as it was initially at low speeds.
The 7 series is also much more quiter than the 5 series, and it has more in-car entertainment features.. such as the rear entertainment package with the TV screen... a fridge in the back, Rear comfort ventilated Seats etc etc. With Night Vision, the 7 series will be like a complete package and be able to compete with the new S-Class.
You just got to give it a little time, and youll start loving it. You just have to get used to driving it, and it becomes really sporty when you push it. I loved the engine sound in it as well, obviously much different than the 530i heh. But so far, i love the Growling engine sound from X5 4.4i sport the most.
So in the end, if i were to choose, id definitely go with the 7 series. Just more of a family car. 7 series just has MUCH more features... is a better ride, (may not be beter handling than the 5, i think its just the same once you get used to it)If i want sporty... id go with M6... and if you really need the room with sportiness.. then M5 for sure.
Whooops sorry for the long post, got carried away

My previous BMW was a 740i sport, and I drove a lot of 745i sports before going with the 550i. There is a big difference in how they drive. The 7 series feels so much bigger and you feel much less connected to the road. In the 550 you feel so much more a part of the driving experience - in a very good way.
Don't get me wrong, the 7er is a magnificant car ... and in some ways I think it is better looking than the E60. But the 7 is a car to be driven in, while the 5 is a car to drive. The 7 may be an ultimate machine to drive, but the 550 is an ultimate driving machine. This is a huge difference.
So it comes down to what you want from your BMW. If you want super luxury, stunning highway power and performance, room and comfort for a king - go for the 750. If you want sporty handling, laser cornering, massive acceleration, and if you want to be in charge of your own diving universe - go for the 550.
Good luck and let us know which way you go. Thanks for askin'.
